Ernesto Olivares
COO and Co-Founder

Ernesto Olivares has over 35 years of experience in transportation, distribution, logistics/reverse logistics and operations management. Throughout his career, Ernesto has worked with industry-leading organizations, including Anheuser-Busch, Tricorbraun Winepak, USF Logistics, and Crystal Geyser Water, where he excelled in streamlining operations and optimizing supply chains. Ernesto has made it his mission to bring value to the entire supply chain. He served as the Western Region Director of Operations for MedShare for seven years and worked with dedicated volunteers and a lean staff to repurpose quality medical supplies and biomedical equipment to both local safety net clinics and sent hundreds of containers and air shipments to over 100 countries and territories around the world. Ernesto is recognized for his strategic vision and hands-on approach in driving operational excellence, delivering innovative solutions, and ensuring seamless logistics execution on both a local and on a global scale.
Andy Pines
Principal and Co-Founder
25 years in healthcare investment banking, and over a decade in nonprofit leadership as a board member and advisor.

Andy Pines spent most of his 25-year career as a healthcare services investment banker at Citigroup, ultimately leading Citigroup’s Healthcare Finance Group. He served as lead banker to Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, Scripps Health, Jefferson Health System, Memorial Hermann Health and numerous other sophisticated health systems, completing over $25 billion in financings and advising on numerous mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. After retiring from banking in 2014, Andy served as Executive Director in the West for MedShare, a non-profit medical surplus recovery organization (MSRO), and as chief financial officer for a medical device start-up. Andy has also served on the boards of U.S. HealthWorks (chair), the second largest occupational medicine company in the U.S.; the Public Health Institute (chair); Verity Health (co-chair), a seven-hospital California hospital system; the San Francisco American Heart Walk (co-chair); MedShare (member); and Practice Greenhealth (member). Andy received a B.S. in industrial engineering, with honors, from University of Miami (FL) and an MBA, cum laude, in Finance / Accounting from Columbia University.

Eric Talbert has over 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience as a philanthropic advisor, board member, and co-founder. He has worked with hundreds of organizations globally and locally to increase access to health and education as well as to protect our planet. In addition to philanthropic, development, and nonprofit governance acumen, he has also been a national spokesperson. Eric has been quoted in: The Wall Street Journal, TIME, Reuters, Forbes, The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Francisco Examiner, and community newspapers as well as local news websites. He has appeared on: MSNBC, Voice of America, and San Francisco Bay Area KQED TV, local ABC News KGO as well as on local news radio programs and podcasts. Eric currently serves on the board of directors for his daughters school in San Francisco and is an Advisory Council member of the Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability.

Mary Bersot, CEO of Bersot Capital Management and investment manager with over 35 years of experience. She is currently a member of the International Women’s Forum. Mary is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the San Francisco Security Analyst Society. Ms. Bersot is a former member of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, having served on the Executive and Governance Committees. Ms. Bersot also sat on the National Board and Advisory Council for MedShare International.
Eric Berzon, Retired VP Financing and Assistant Treasurer at Kaiser Permanente, cheerleader and foot soldier in support of sustainable, climate friendly healthcare.
Doug Grey, Retired Vascular Surgeon who spent his career working with The Permanente Medical Group. He held several roles in both clinical surgery as well as administrative roles at Kaiser dealing with equipment and supplies. Dr. Grey co-founded Operation Access, a Bay Area non-profit providing medical and surgical procedures for under- and uninsured patients and has been a regular volunteer in Tanzania during his retirement.
Dr. Paul Hofmann, President of the Hofmann Healthcare Group, has assisted healthcare organizations with accelerating their performance improvement efforts and writes about ethical issues. He began his career at the Massachusetts General Hospital and served as the Executive Director of Emory University Hospital and Director of Stanford University Hospital and Clinics.
Kathryn E. Johnson, Served as the Chief Executive Officer of Health Forum for twenty-five years and retired in 2002. She is a former Board member of the UN World Food Program-USA and currently serves on a number of global not for profit boards.
Dr. Mary Pittman, President & CEO of the Public Health Institute 2008-2024, has spent her career working to build healthy, resilient communities using the science and approach of public health and the critical partnerships with hospitals and social serving organizations. Dr. Pittman serves on numerous education, research, and health policy boards and committees to advance the nation's health. She has also been a champion and committed to improving global health, especially for women and girls who are the caretakers and source of nourishment to families and communities around the globe.
Dr. Pat Salber, is a physician executive and health journalist who founded and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Doctor Weighs In. She was a double-boarded emergency physician at Kaiser Permanente until transitioning into a national executive position as the organization’s first Director of National Accounts. Currently, Dr. Salber serves as a consultant to CMS and speaks and moderates at both national and international healthcare conferences.
Dr. Bill Schecter, Professor of Clinical Surgery Emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Schecter co-founded and served as President of the Board of Directors of Operation Access. He has served as President of the San Francisco Surgical Society, the Pacific Coast Surgical Association, and the Northern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), as a Governor of the American College of Surgeons and a Director of the American Board of Surgery.
